Design criteria for public lighting systems in a building 

The design of a public lighting system is not only about installing lighting equipment lines but also complying with the criteria and regulations of the government to ensure the progress and quality of the lighting system. Normally, the design will be based on standard 7114:2008 and Vietnam construction standard QCXDVN 09:2005.

The design criteria 

In order for the public lighting system to work with optimal efficiency, the following criteria should be based on: 

1. Illuminance 

The illuminance is used to create a light source, complying with Vietnam standard 7114-1:2008, ensuring that the amount of light is evenly distributed in the room without causing flickering or dazzling. At the same time, they also contribute to reducing energy consumption when in use. 

2. Design space 

The design space of the public lighting system in the building must comply with Vietnamese construction standards QCXDVN 09:2005 in terms of power density, ensuring energy saving and efficient operation. Lighting equipment must be suitable for the space, convenient for installation and repair. 

3. Color temperature 

Light color temperature usually has three primary colors: 2700k (bright yellow), 4000k (warm white light) and 6500k (white light).

4. Light conditions 

When choosing lighting for the building, the Investor needs to ensure the best lighting conditions. Apply advanced technologies to limit flicker, no glare, and uniform distance between shadows. 

5. Integrated with remote control system 

The public lighting system in the building needs to be integrated with remote control to avoid wasting electrical energy and be more convenient in management. 

6. Aesthetics value 

Highlight the luxurious, modern space, in accordance with the style and criterias of the project. 

What does the public lighting system in the building include? 

  • The lighting system is designed and installed to meet the usage requirements regarding brightness, color, and uniformity. 
  • The emergency lighting system should be maintained at least 5 - 10 lux for emergency exit and have a battery pack with sufficient capacity to provide a backup power source for at least 2 hours. 
  • The indicator light system uses a self-recharging solar battery, red, flashing with a frequency of 20 to 60 times/minute. Visibility from 3 to 5 km, mounted at the roof of each tower block - 5m high from the rooftop.
